Event: Treachery of Images
Dangerously Awake in first international performance

Surrealism, a major artistic movement born in Belgium, emerged from a desire to break with convention — to banish the déjà-vu and question it. What do we see? What do we want to show, and what is hidden? What is visible, and what remains invisible?
Presented as part of the Various Voices Brussels 2026 festival, Treachery of Images is an opportunity to look beyond appearances and shine a light on those who remain in the shadows today. The show brings together numerous European LGBTQI+ choirs alongside several Belgian artists for an evening that probes the gap between surface and substance.
Edinburgh Gay Men's Chorus will perform as part of this collective programme, and the set will include Dangerously Awake — a fitting addition to a show built around the tension between what is seen and what lies beneath.
