A Week I'll Never Forget

A few months ago I wrote here that I was done letting perfect be the enemy of good. Well — here's me doing it.

A week I will never forget.

First, I heard one of my own songs sung to a live audience for the first time, by my choir family. A few days later I submitted my first single for public release. So many emotions just thinking about it…

After 20+ years of writing music, I decided it's time to share it with the world. I'm realistic about what that means — I'm not quitting my day job. But I think it's important that positive messages are put out into the world, even when the louder, negative noise seems to drown it all out.

If one person hears a song I wrote and smiles, or feels seen, or feels just a little less alone, that song has been worth everything.

Life is short and we need to stop spending it worrying about trivial things. I'm telling myself this too: do what you want to do, say what you want to say, be who you want to be, don't take yourself too seriously, and try your best to be kind. We worry too much about what other people think, and not enough about what makes us — and those around us — happy.

If you want to help Dangerously Awake reach more people, pre-save it to your streaming service of choice, or just tell people about it. If not, that's fine too.

More to come! :)
